First Week In The MTC!


Ola pessoal!!! I have been in the MTC for 6 days now and I'm loving it so far!! the first day I got to meet my comp Elder Baczuk he's from Alaska and he is such a cool guy, we instantly got along and its super sick. Also my Portuguese district is super cool and we are all super tight. I think that has been such a blessing to me because I haven't felt lonely here at all so far! My teachers Irmao Haycock and Irma Pendleton are the best, they are perfect examples of Christ to me and they are so committed to serving us and it makes me want to learn more and serve others! The language is coming along pretty good and I had to share my testimony and pray in portuguese on my third day here! It was scary, but I felt good after I did it!! Also on my second day me and my companion were assigned to be ZONE LEADERS!! We were both so stoked cause now we get to welcome the new missionaries who join our zone and help give assignments to people for Sunday and stuff. On a more spiritual note, the past couple of days I have been here I have learned so much about the gospel and Gods plan for us. My purpose as a missionary is to invite others to Christ and help them receive the restored gospel through Jesus Christ and his Atonement. Understanding this purpose has helped me so much. Before my mission I would always tell people that I wanted to go out and  serve my mission for me and I have always thought that was the best reason to serve, but last night we watched a talk from Elder Bednar and what he said was that "MISSIONS ARE NOT ABOUT YOU"!!! I really like that he said that cause now I have realized the main and most important reason why I am serving is for Gods purpose to bring His children back to live with him and spread his gospel. I have really been trying not to put myself first but put others first instead. Im going to continue to put off the natural man and turn to God for strength and guidance because I know I can accomplish anything through Him and his Atonement!   Olá Meus Queridos!! I don't know when was the last time I've written to all of you 😅. If any of you still read these posts I just wanna say thanks for being patient with me!  A lot has changed recently in our mission... We received a new mission President and his family. A bunch of new missionaries from the states are starting to arrive. I have served most of my mission close to Lisbon and in the central part of Portugal. But this last transfer I was sent all the way up to the northern part of the country in a little town outside of Porto called São João da Maderia. It's such a cool little area with a lot of trees and a good view of the ocean. The northern part of Portugal is completely different from the central and southern part. The people are very hard to talk to and the culture is different. Week 5

Ola todos!! I have been in the MTC for 5 weeks now! Like I said before, the time keeps on flying by super fast! This week was really good besides me having a cold lol, but I’m starting to feel better! We didn't have any new missionaries come into our zone this week, so that meant my comp and I had more TRC'S!! We have been teaching this girl named Mele and I have loved being able to teach her with my comp! She is super nice and speaks very fast BRAZILLIAN PORTUGUESE!! It's so hard to understand her lol because she pronounces everything differently than we do because we speak Continental Portuguese. I can understand half of what she says, but it still works out pretty good and she understands what we are trying to teach. We have been teaching her how important baptism is and having faith in God and how making and keeping covenants with him will bless us. Week 6!!!

Ola!! Hope everyone is doing well! Today is my last day at the MTC and I’m soooo ready to get out and serve! To be completely honest, I did not think I would have such a good experience here at the MTC, but I'm so glad that I did! I owe it all to my Heavenly Father for putting such amazing people in my life. I have truly learned so much from everyone here at the MTC and I hope I can have the same effect on the people that I will meet in Portugal! On our last day of class with my teacher Irmao Haycock we did this really cool activity for our last day. We went to the S1 building in the MTC and in that building there is this long hallway with paintings of Christ all over the wall. Our teacher told us to walk down the hall and look at each painting of Christ and try to feel the spirit and see what each painting means to us, and once we got done looking at all of them, we would walk back down the hall and show each other which painting was our favorite and what it meant to us.
